Book: The Judeo-Christian Model of Peacemaking

Introduction

Greetings. My name is Dr. Ken Newberger.  I hold a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis & Resolution from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.  I am the author of Hope in the Face of Conflict: Making Peace with Others the Way God Makes Peace with Us.
For more than twenty-five years, I have helped couples move from conflict toward peace, from hurt toward healing, and from distance toward genuine connection.  I have worked with more than 500 couples — people who arrived discouraged, exhausted, and sometimes nearly certain their marriage was over.  Many of them found their way back to each other.  Some discovered a closeness they had not felt in years.
If your marriage is struggling, there is real hope.  Learn more  about how I can help you find your way back to each other.

A Word About Christian Marriage Counseling

Christian marriage counseling integrates the truths of Scripture with proven principles of conflict resolution and relational healing.  Rather than treating faith as irrelevant — or avoiding it altogether — Christian counseling views your faith as a powerful resource for restoring your marriage.

My approach is grounded in the Judeo-Christian model of peacemaking: learning to make peace with others the way God makes peace with us.  This model applies wherever conflict exists — including between husbands and wives.  This is not merely theological theory.  It is a practical process that works.  In marriage, it helps couples:

  • Break destructive cycles of conflict, withdrawal, and resentment
  • Communicate with greater honesty, sensitivity, and compassion
  • Rebuild trust after a lack of transparency, dishonesty, or relational distance
  • Restore emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy
  • Develop a shared vision for the marriage God intended
The result is not just fewer arguments — it’s a stronger, more connected marriage than you may have thought possible.
Toward this end, I offer Christian couples in Arlington and throughout Northern Virginia a faith-based, goal-oriented approach to marriage counseling — grounded in biblical principles and conflict resolution research.

Christianity in Leesburg, VA

Christian marriage counseling for Leesburg VA

Historically
The establishment of Leesburg in the mid-1700s marked the beginning of Christianity in this area. The two historic congregations of Leesburg Presbyterian Church (1804) and St. James’ Episcopal Church (1842) continue to exist as physical evidence of how faith influenced the daily routines of the community. The churches functioned as community hubs during the 18th and 19th centuries because they served as educational centers and social gathering spaces and support networks for families. The stone buildings with their elevated steeples which date back to the past continue to serve as prominent landmarks throughout the downtown area of Leesburg.

The population expansion of Leesburg throughout the 19th and 20th centuries led to an increase in Christian institutions throughout the town. Today, the religious landscape of Leesburg has evolved to include traditional churches alongside contemporary evangelical and non-denominational congregations which now coexist with the town's historical places of worship. The Association of Religion Data Archives identifies, Catholic, Methodist, and non-denominational Christian churches as the largest three religious groups in Loudoun County. The largest church in Leesburg is Cornerstone Chapel, a nondenominational church, located at 650 Battlefiled Parkway SE.

Today
The congregations of Leesburg offer essential community connection to residents who experience the fast-paced development of their region. The rapid influx of new families to Loudoun County makes local churches essential because they establish spiritual communities where people can unite for worship and service. The faith-based community provides couples with hope through biblical teachings and personal examples of believers who demonstrate their commitment to marriage renewal. A number of Leesburg churches still maintain their strong influence on the local community through prayer activities and fellowship events and outreach programs which demonstrate that faith exists throughout all aspects of family and community life. The Christian community of Leesburg demonstrates its compassionate nature through active service which embodies the love of Christ.

While Leesburg VA offers many positives, the community is not immune to the same hurdles, disagreements, and conflicts that put strains on marriages across the country.  The good news is Dr. Newberger offers Christian couples in Leesburg an effective alternative to traditional marriage counseling.  Call 703-483-0031 to confidentially speak with him today regarding your marital situation free of charge.
