Book: The Judeo-Christian Model of Peacemaking

Introduction

Greetings. My name is Dr. Ken Newberger.  I hold a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis & Resolution from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.  I am the author of Hope in the Face of Conflict: Making Peace with Others the Way God Makes Peace with Us
For more than twenty-five years, I have helped congregations and couples move from conflict toward peace, from hurt toward healing, and from distance toward genuine connection.  I have mediated conflicts within church boards, staff teams, and congregations, and have worked with more than 500 couples.  My overall approach combines a solid biblical foundation with the best of modern research.
If you are struggling in your marriage, there is hope.  Learn more  about how I can help you find your way back to each other.

A Word About Christian Marriage Counseling

Christian marriage counseling integrates the truths of Scripture with proven principles of conflict resolution and relational healing. Rather than treating faith as irrelevant — or avoiding it altogether — Christian counseling views your faith as a powerful resource for restoring your marriage.

My approach is grounded in the Judeo-Christian model of peacemaking, that is, learning to make peace with others the way God makes peace with us. This model applies wherever conflict exists — including between husbands and wives. This is not merely theological theory. It is a practical process that works. In marriage, it helps couples:

  • Break destructive cycles of conflict, withdrawal, and resentment
  • Communicate with greater honesty, sensitivity, and compassion
  • Rebuild trust after a lack of transparency, dishonesty, or relational distance
  • Restore emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy
  • Develop a shared vision for the marriage God intended
The result is not just fewer arguments — it’s a stronger, more connected marriage than you may have thought possible.
Toward this end, I offer Christian couples in Sterling and the surrounding areas a faith-based, goal-oriented approach to marriage counseling. My approach is grounded in biblical principles and conflict resolution research.

About Sterling, VA

Marriage counseling Sterling VA

Sterling is a suburban community located in Loudoun County, Virginia, approximately 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. It serves as a significant residential and commercial hub in the region. The area began to develop in the 1960s with the establishment of planned communities like Sterling Park, and has since evolved into a bustling suburb known for its blend of modern amenities and suburban charm. According to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2020, Sterling has a population of 30,337. The area is known for its diverse population, with a Hispanic or Latino presence comprising about 45% of the community.

Sterling’s Claude Moore Park, a sprawling 357-acre area, features walking trails, sports fields, and a nature center, making it perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Similarly, Sterling’s Algonkian Regional Park which stretches along the Potomac River provides 838 acres to explore.

On a personal note, one resident of Sterling VA stated, “I remember thinking, when I was growing up, that I never wanted to live in a suburb. ‘That’s a place for retirees,’ I thought. I’m so glad I was wrong. When my family discovered Sterling, we couldn’t have been more happy. We work in Washington, D.C. and we didn’t want to raise our children there. While we love the city, it’s definitely a busy, hectic place and we found ourselves craving a bit of quiet after a long day of dealing with traffic and tourists. Sterling is the perfect solution. It’s about a 45 minute drive to D.C. but it doesn’t feel anything like the city. It’s a smaller suburb, but has plenty of good shopping centers and recreation options. The area is really clean and the restaurants are actually really nice! There are a number of parks which are fantastic to walk around and we’ve never really seen much crime.”

Another long-time resident said, “I grew up in Sterling! Parents still live there. Went to elementary, middle, and high school. Super safe area, very suburban living. All the schools in Loudoun are pretty great. I still like to go out there to do my errands. Everything is super close by, once you get the hang of the area you will love it.”

However, like many other cities in VA, traffic can be a nightmare during peak hours according to residents.

Sterling VA has a lot to offer, whether you live, work, or visit there. However, Sterling is not immune to the marital stresses that affect families nationwide. The good news is Dr. Newberger offers Christian couples in Sterling and the surrounding areas an effective alternative to traditional marriage counseling.  If you are struggling in your marriage speak with him today.
